These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of NearBy, a platform that connects customers with local tradespeople. By creating an account or using NearBy, you agree to these Terms.

1. Using NearBy

NearBy is available to anyone who can form a legally binding contract under UK law. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.

2. Customer Responsibilities

• Provide accurate job descriptions, photos, and budgets
• Respond to quotes and messages in a timely manner
• Do not post fraudulent, illegal, or misleading job listings
• You are responsible for any agreement you make with a tradesperson

3. Tradesperson Responsibilities

• Provide accurate business details, trade categories, and service areas
• Submit honest quotes with clear scope, pricing, and exclusions
• Complete work to a professional standard and within agreed timeframes
• Maintain any required certifications, insurance, or qualifications for your trade

4. Quotes and Payments

NearBy facilitates the exchange of quotes and messages between customers and tradespeople. Any agreement to carry out work, including pricing and payment terms, is made directly between the customer and the tradesperson. NearBy is not a party to these agreements and does not process payments between users.

5. AI Estimates

NearBy offers an AI-powered estimation tool that provides approximate price ranges based on job type, materials, and location. These estimates are indicative only and do not constitute a binding quote. Actual prices may vary based on the specific requirements of the job.

6. Acceptable Use

• Do not use NearBy to harass, threaten, or deceive other users
• Do not post content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes intellectual property
• Do not attempt to bypass authentication or access another user's data
• Do not use the platform to solicit users outside of NearBy without consent

7. Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately. NearBy uses Supabase Auth and supports Google, Apple, and Facebook social login for your convenience.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of NearBy is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

9. Limitation of Liability

NearBy provides a platform for connecting users but does not guarantee the quality, legality, or safety of any work performed by tradespeople. We are not liable for any damages arising from agreements made between users through the platform.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe are being used in a way that could harm the platform or other users.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform. Continued use of NearBy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
